Central Pattana wins the Prime Minister Award 2025 for “Innovation for Sustainability,” reinforcing its leadership as a Centre of Life and Thailand’s No.1 real estate developer on the path toward Net Zero 2050

Central Pattana plc., Thailand’s No.1 sustainable real estate leader, under the vision “Imagining better futures for all,” integrates its Retail–Residence–Hotel–Office businesses to reinforce its role as a placemaker and developer of a Centre of Life at the heart of communities, driven by a sustainable growth approach. The company has been honored with the Prime Minister Award 2025 in the category of Innovation for Sustainability, the country’s highest recognition celebrating entrepreneurs and organizations that drive Thailand’s innovation-led economy toward sustainability. The award was organized by the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA. The award was received on behalf of Central Pattana by Ms. Uthaiwan Anuchitanukul, an executive of Central Pattana, and presented by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), representing the Prime Minister and presiding over the ceremony.

Ms. Uthaiwan Anuchitanukul, Head of Excellence & Sustainable Development at Central Pattana Plc., stated that: “At Central Pattana, we believe that sustainability lies at the heart of development. We are therefore committed to creating Centre of Life that enhance the quality of life for people and communities while caring for the environment, in order to deliver lasting value for the future. Receiving the Prime Minister Award 2025 in the category of Innovation for Sustainability from the National Innovation Agency (NIA), as a developer of shopping centers based on the concept of a Centre of Life at the heart of communities, is a source of great pride for us. The award reflects the tangible outcomes of our developments under our Retail-Led Mixed-Use Development strategy, which creates a Sustainable Business Ecosystem by integrating all businesses to drive progress toward our NET Zero 2050 goal. This is achieved through efficient energy and resource management, reducing environmental impact, and creating shared value with communities in every area where we operate. Central Pattana will continue to strengthen its innovation ecosystem and collaborate with partners across all sectors to enhance the quality of life for Thai people and to help drive the country toward a sustainable future.”

Central Pattana has successfully delivered a range of sustainability-driven innovations, including:

  • ‘Central Krabi’, Thailand’s first Sustainable-Lifestyle Shopping Centre and a source of pride for the people of Krabi. The project is pursuing international EDGE Certification – Zero Level, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, targeting a reduction in energy consumption of over 40% and progressing toward 100% carbon offsetting. Key initiatives include a semi-outdoor building design and the installation of over 14,400 sq.m. of solar panels. In terms of waste management, the project has introduced the Green Road initiative, reducing landfill plastic waste by more than 2.5 tons, along with Recycle Stations that encourage community participation in waste segregation. Through Upcycling and Creative Use of Waste, marine debris has been transformed into eco-art hoardings, art installations, and recycled furniture, reducing the use of new plastics by over 50%. In addition, the Krabi Collection CSR initiative, developed in collaboration with partners and local communities, upcycles discarded fishing nets into fashion apparel and handcrafted products sold through Hug Craft, helping reduce marine waste while generating sustainable income for local communities.
  • The establishment of ‘Central Pattana Green Growth’ to drive the company’s decarbonization mission and deliver tangible reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative began with a core program to install solar rooftop systems, adding more than 35 megawatts of clean energy capacity. As a result, Central Pattana’s total solar power generation capacity now exceeds 68 megawatts, accounting for approximately 1.8% of Thailand’s total solar power generation. The company continues to explore new energy and environmental technologies for future developments, while extending its capabilities to provide related services to companies both within and beyond the Central Group.
  • The development of a sustainability platform that leverages collaboration across all sectors, highlighted by the Better Futures Project 2025 and the “RE” Lifestyle Roadshow: Care for the Planet | Love the Community. This first-of-its-kind roadshow brings environmental and community development concepts to every region of Thailand. A key highlight is the “Eco-Friendly Electric Truck”, adapted from an electric pickup truck, which helps reduce carbon emissions from event operations and travel. The initiative also builds upon the Worry-Free Journey concept by promoting electric vehicle travel from north to south, supported by a nationwide network of EV charging stations at Central shopping centers.

Furthermore, over the past 45 years, Central Pattana has been committed to developing its Centres of Life as “spaces of opportunity” that deliver value to all stakeholders. Across the country, Central shopping centers serve as public community spaces that support youth education, generate income for local communities and SMEs, promote local wealth, and enhance customer experience and quality of life—fully aligned with the company’s vision of “Imagining better futures for all.”
